Seakeeping
This course covers basic ship seakeeping theory & practice. The course is intended for naval architects and marine engineers, with a need to understand and perform ship motion analysis: passenger comfort, deck accelerations, probability of slamming or shipping of green water.
Syllabus
- Formulation and computation methods: 2D strip theory, 3D potential flow
- Ship & sea: coordinate systems, seakeeping conventions
- Mass moment of inertia
- Sea spectra
- Roll damping
- Sea operational limits
Software of reference: GHS Seakeeping, MAESTRO-Wave
Course venue / delivery mode: live web sessions.
Duration : 3 x 2 hours, total 6 hours
Prerequisites : notions of hydrostatics and naval architecture
